The ADD Management Guide

A Resource for ADDers and Their Loved Ones

Hi there,

Have you ever found yourself - in the middle of an otherwise ordinary day - feeling completely spent and burned out?

Although it happens to all of us with adult ADD, you may find yourself thinking:

  • Why can't I handle these simple things that I'm trying to do?

  • How come this doesn't happen to my friends, spouse, coworkers, etc?

  • What's wrong with me that I get can't through the day without being stressed out?

The truth is, however, that all adults with ADD occasionally find themselves feeling overwhelmed with everyday life.  We are wired in such a way that we have a low toleration for frustration.

So when others are able to handle running late because of a traffic jam, you find yourself feeling like your fuse is blown by one more red light.

When others are able to handle the boss throwing a last-minute assignment on the agenda, you feel like adding one more task is enough to make you lose control.

And when someone else can get through a long and stressful day in a relatively good mood, you feel like you're going to snap half way through.

The next time you find yourself in a situation like this, here's what you should not do:  Do NOT judge yourself for feeling the way you do

The next time you find yourself in a situation like this, here's what you should do: Do press your reset button.

We all have certain activities that we like to do that can help us escape "the real world" for a brief period of time.  A RESET BUTTON is any activity that allows you to step back from your stress, calm down, and find your center.

For example, I find that taking a shower is a great reset button.  Something about the hot water helps melt away my tension.  Some of my clients' reset buttons include:

  • Taking a bath

  • Watching a favorite TV show

  • Taking a drive

  • Cranking up some good music

  • Going for a run

  • Sitting in quiet meditation

  • Stretching and breathing deeply

  • Taking a 15 or 30 minute "power nap"

What's your reset button?

Give yourself permission to press that reset button the next time you find yourself feeling overwhelmed by everyday life.

Enjoy your day!

I did the trial last week, wasn't sure at first until I tried listening to one of the teleclasses. I have a new home on the net!

Best $27 I have ever spent...Invested in myself!

And believe me, I have spent a lot trying to "change" and be "normal" -- all wasted money. Here I can learn how to be ME with ADD.

NOW I feel hope again at 50! I had just about given up!
