Stop Trying to Be So Organized

Dear Friend,

A lack of organizational skills is probably the biggest source of pain for adults with ADD. This applies to physical spaces, as well as mental. Cluttered homes, chaotic thoughts, and mismanaged time are hallmarks of ADD in adults.

Here's the good news: The most happy and successful adults with ADD don't try to be experts in time management or organization. We understand that a little time and effort goes a long way, and that small improvements in these areas are often all you need to make a big difference in your life.

When it comes to space and time management, I take a different approach than most coaches: I encourage my clients to STOP trying to be so organized! I'm sick of watching adults with ADD beat themselves up because they can't seem to get it together in these areas.

It really doesn't have to be so hard!

The most happy and successful adults with ADD:

  • Organize their space and time in such a way that works for them (not what works for other people)
  • Don't worry about what other people might think of them, or their ADD management systems
  • Are willing to experiment with different strategies to find what works for them
  • Are committed to making their lives easier, and NOT getting down on themselves

If you're willing to embrace these ideas, then you're in a good place to begin taking control of your time and space.
